What is Race for Research?

The Mayo School of Health Sciences Program in Physical Therapy presents the 7th Annual Race for Research! Each year, physical therapy students nationwide join efforts in the Marquette Challenge, a call to raise money for research in the field of physical therapy. Since the inception of the Challenge, students have raised more than $1.8 million. All proceeds are donated to the Foundation for Physical Therapy. This foundation aims to improve patient care by funding scientifically based and clinically relevant physical therapy research. This year, the Mayo School of Health Sciences Program in Physical Therapy students will again take part in this challenge by putting on the Race for Research. The Race includes a 5k walk, a 5K run, and a 10K run through the Rochester city trails. You can demonstrate your commitment to the physical therapy profession by participating in this exciting event. So, bring your friends, bring your family and come on out to participate in the 2013 Race for Research!

Marquette Challenge

The Marquette Challenge was created by physical therapy students at Marquette University in 1989 as a fundraising effort that supports the American Physical Therapy Association's Foundation for Physical Therapy.The challenge is coordinated and executed exclusively by physical therapy and physical therapy assistant program students each year. The school to raise the most money shares the Challenge name for the following year. In the 2009-2010 Challenge, the University of Pittsburgh won. The Mayo School of Health Sciences Program in Physical Therapy received the "Most-Successful Newcomer" award in 2006-2007 and has earned the "Honorable Mention" award in 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2010-2011. Last year, fundraising efforts grossed enough to earn the title of "Merit", placing 4th of all PT programs in the United States.
